An optical illusion that made fans see our iconic red where red is not allowed.

BACKGROUND
In Argentina, Racing Club fans bleed
blue. Red belongs to Independiente,
their fiercest rivals, whose stadium sits
300 meters away. Racing fans ban red
from their closets, their fridges,
and some only buy green tomatoes.
Head coach Gustavo Costas won't
even sit in red chairs. So how could
Coca-Cola, a brand defined by red, show
up in the one community that rejects it?
IDEA
Coca-Cola removed the red. Using
optical illusion principles, Coca-Cola
designed executions with blue, black,
white, and grey that still made fans
perceive Coca-Cola red. Decades of love
for the brand filled it in for them.
The work ran across stadium screens,
OOH, and social media, embedding itself
in fan culture while respecting the rivalry
and traditions.
